Okay, I'm a fan of Tonya Kay and in a recent interview she referenced local artist Paul Rucker as one of her heroes. So I emailed Paul because that's super amazingly cool and said that I was a fan of hers, and Paul told Tonya and she added me as a friend.

And now I'm just squeeing all over the place because she's just the coolest Pagan ever. Definitely none of that dark mysterious stuff. She's just in-your-face groovy cool. She's Pagan like real Pagans, not like TV Pagans, except that she's on TV.

92.5 morning show

I was just listening to the 92.5 morning show and it was vile.

They were talking about Muslim extremism and questioned that there must be something wrong with a religion that justifies such extremism. Most of the leaders of US corporations are Christian, and the United States is one of the world leaders for green-house gas emissions. So can we also say that there must be something about Christianity that justifies destroying the environment?

Then they mocked fat people. They spent about 5 minutes mocking some guy for nothing other than being over weight.

I don't really blame the people who were on the radio making these comments because they were clearly too stupid to understand the implications of what they were saying. I'm more concerned about the management which continues to allow these people to be so vile, and the public who continue to tune in to hear them being so vile.

I'm not checking LJ. I haven't in about a month. Too busy.

I had a temp job. Today we close on a house. Then I have one month to get it to pass FHA inspection. I also have a time consuming hobby (i.e. Paganistani Promotions). Something had to give and that was LiveJournal. Maybe I'll read it again some day. I might occasionally post because it helps me track what's going on in my life, but I'm not reading.

Trip to the Botanica

I had been planning to go to the botanica on E. Lake between 5th & 6th with friends today, and with moving forward on the house, I really wanted to make an offering to Santa Muerta. I'm getting ready for Sacred Harvest Fest, and finalizing things on the house, but I need Santa Muerta on my side, so this was important.

So we come out of the botanica and the woman who drove, her car had been towed, and it will cost $250 to get it. It was in a parking lot and while we were in the store signs were posted that it was a private lot and people would be towed by a guy who (as it turns out) was in prison until a month ago for extortion.

The trip to the botanica ended up being a day long adventure in stress and frustration. But now I'm home and can deal with my other sources of stress and frustration.

In the archeological record, occasionally remains are found whit evidence of a debilitating wound which had healed, showing that the victim was supported by a community. Archeologists always get very excited when they find such evidence. Likewise, this article helps me to believe that border collies are fairly high on the evolutionary ladder.
